Leadership development programs are most successful when evidence is used as a driver for change. Certain Knowledge provides a questionnaire service to gather data on the perceptions of school leaders and teachers on key aspects of their school and detailed online reports for school leaders.
The following questionnaires are recommended to inform school leadership development:
These questionnaires are designed as instruments that provide school leadership teams with targeted feedback from their own members and from the teaching staff about the quality of leadership for learning in the school, i.e. about leaders’ beliefs and practices that enable teachers to improve whole-school pedagogical effectiveness. The questionnaires are based on the major constructs found in the research literature to be important to leadership, pedagogy and learning. Like teachers, leadership teams can use feedback as the basis for developing their own professional learning plan and then monitoring their progression towards the achievement of those goals.
The leadership questionnaires are completed by two groups:
and take approximately 10 minutes to complete. It is recommended that the leadership questionnaires are used at the beginning of the year, to establish a benchmark, and then again at the end of the year to measure improvement in target areas.
The purposes of the leadership questionnaires are:
Responses on items in the questionnaires are grouped as scales or item groups for reporting purposes. Benchmark data are also provided.
Click on the links for a full description of the leadership questionnaire scales and item groups and related support resources.
The leadership questionnaires are ideal to assess changes in attitude of both leaders and teachers as leadership development programs are implemented.
To use the Certain Knowledge questionnaire service for leadership development at your school, please email a request detailing the names of the school(s) to be involved in the project and their total enrolments and a short description of the project. After receipt of your request, we will then provide details of the steps to facilitate your school (or schools) to complete the questionnaires online.
Access to the questionnaires is via an online system. The system is set up to produce "matched cohort" reports for staff where a questionnaire is completed more than once. For example, if College A staff complete the leadership questionnaires in March and then again in March of the following year, the system can produce reports comparing responses only where the staff member completed the questionnaire on both occasions. These reports give more accurate comparisons because staff changes do not bias the results. Reports are also provided for all staff that completed each questionnaire.
Certain Knowledge provides the principal or a project coordinator in each school, an online summary report for the leadership questionnaires in the following format:

and detailed reports of the mean and standard deviation for questionnaire items and scales, such as:

All reports can be viewed via the Browser, printed and or copied and saved in Microsoft Word/Excel.
